About
The North Cape 4000 is an ultra-distance, self-supported bikepacking event that challenges riders to cover around 4,000 kilometers from southern Europe to the Arctic tip of Norway. Starting in Italy and finishing at the iconic North Cape, the race follows a fixed route with mandatory checkpoints that change each year, offering riders new landscapes and challenges with every edition. Participants must ride unsupported, sourcing their own food, rest, and repairs along the way, while averaging more than 200 kilometers per day to meet the strict time limits. The route takes riders across varied terrain, from Alpine climbs and rolling hills to Nordic forests and dramatic coastal roads, with unpredictable weather adding to the difficulty. Beyond the physical challenge of climbing nearly 30,000 meters in elevation, riders face logistical puzzles such as ferry crossings, resupply stops, and long stretches of isolation that test their mental resilience. Despite the hardship, the event is celebrated for its sense of adventure, community among riders, and the unforgettable reward of reaching North Cape under the midnight sun, making it one of the most iconic endurance races in Europe.
