About
Unbound Gravel is the pinnacle of gravel racing—a brutal, beautiful, and deeply human test of endurance, strategy, and grit. Held annually in Emporia, Kansas, this event began in 2006 with just 34 riders and has since evolved into the world’s premier gravel race, attracting nearly 5,000 participants from all 50 U.S. states and over 40 countries. Riders choose from five distances—25, 50, 100, 200, and the grueling 350-mile Unbound Gravel XL—each route winding through the unforgiving Flint Hills, where flint-strewn roads, relentless sun, and unpredictable weather create a crucible for both seasoned pros and ambitious amateurs.
But Unbound is more than a race—it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and the spirit of adventure. The event transforms Emporia into a gravel Mecca, with riders and fans converging for a weekend of camaraderie, storytelling, and shared passion. Whether you’re chasing the 200-mile finish line or testing your limits in the XL, Unbound Gravel is a journey that challenges you to go beyond what you thought possible, leaving you forever changed by the experience.
