GRAVAL Extreme is the most demanding and remote challenge in the GRAVAL series, created for experienced bikepackers who want to test their limits in true self-supported ultracycling. Starting and finishing in Valencia, Spain, the route ventures deep into the mountains and backcountry of the Valencian Community, combining endless gravel tracks, rugged forest roads, and isolated landscapes where self-reliance is essential.
The course covers approximately 800 km with around 13,000–15,000 metres of climbing, depending on the edition. Riders tackle iconic ascents including Javalambre, Peñagolosa, Peñarroya, and the rugged Caroig Massif, passing through remote villages and natural parks where careful planning of food, water, and sleep becomes as important as fitness.
GRAVAL Extreme follows a non-stop, self-supported format. There is no outside assistance, and every rider must manage navigation, mechanicals, nutrition, and rest independently while completing the route within the event’s time limit. Although rider tracking is available, the event emphasizes personal adventure over competition, encouraging participants to experience the journey at their own pace.
Designed for both gravel bikes and mountain bikes, GRAVAL Extreme rewards resilience, smart decision-making, and endurance. It is an event where long mountain climbs, technical terrain, and hours of solitude define the experience, making it one of the toughest off-road ultras on the Iberian Peninsula.
