Seven Serpents Quick Bite

Seven Serpents Quick Bite is a 500-kilometre gravel event through the western Balkans starting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with 10,000 metres of elevation gain — the shorter entry-level option in the Seven Serpents series. Ljubljana sits at the convergence of the Alps and the Dinaric karst, and the route pushes immediately into the karst plateau and the coastal hinterland of Slovenia and Croatia, where the limestone terrain creates a distinctive riding environment: dry, stony, and rocky, with hidden dolines (sinkholes) and underground river systems that shape the landscape above ground. The 500-kilometre distance is designed to be completed in two to four days by a well-prepared rider, making it the most accessible entry into the Seven Serpents experience. The May timing means the karst is not yet at summer temperatures, the light is good, and the coastal areas of Croatia are still quiet before the tourism season begins. For riders new to the Seven Serpents format — which prizes route-finding and self-sufficiency as much as speed — the Quick Bite offers the essential character of the series in a more compact package. The race has built a strong and loyal following in central Europe since its founding.
