Event description

The Gravelscape Half Ultra is a 376-kilometre gravel and MTB event through the Sierra Morena near Linares, Jaen, covering the shorter loop of the Gravelscape course with 6,840 metres of elevation gain on the same mix of ancient mining tracks, cork oak forest roads, and unmaintained rural paths that define the full Ultra. The Half Ultra is designed as a complete event in its own right rather than simply a shortened version — the terrain and character of the Sierra Morena are fully present at this distance, and 6,840 metres of climbing in 376 kilometres is a substantial undertaking that will require 1 to 3 days of riding for most participants. The October timing brings the Sierra Morena into its best seasonal condition: the summer heat has broken, the oak forests are turning, and the ancient mining villages along the route have a quiet, off-season quality that amplifies the sense of remoteness. For riders who want to explore this underrated corner of Andalusia without committing to the full 595-kilometre Ultra, the Half is a natural starting point — and many riders use it as a route reconnaissance before returning for the full distance in subsequent years.
