Riders travel from the southernmost point of the country to the northern borders, encountering steep climbs, stony slopes where pushing or carrying the bike may be required, varied backcountry roads, and scenic highlights like historic lakes, castles, mountains, and spa towns.

The route is altered year to year to keep things fresh (for example, replacing some regions, tweaking around 60% of the route recently), but the overall challenge remains intense.
