GBDURO is a 2,000-kilometre self-supported bikepacking race from Land's End on the southwestern tip of Cornwall to John O'Groats at the northeastern tip of Scotland, following the GB Divide route — a course designed by The Racing Collective to link the best off-road riding in Great Britain in a continuous flowing line. The route was first created by Miles Resso and first completed in the inaugural 2019 race by professional cyclist Lachlan Morton (EF Education First), who set an initial course record. Now in its eighth year in 2026, GBDURO has established itself as the UK's premier bikepacking ultra and one of the most beloved events in the British cycling calendar. The route is approximately 65% road and 35% off-road, incorporating sections of the Highland Trail 550, the Badger Divide, and the Second City Divide, along with the demanding Corrieyairack Pass crossing in Scotland and the Great Dun Fell descent in the Pennines. The terrain passes through Dartmoor, the Brecon Beacons, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, the Scottish Borders, and the Highland wilderness north of the Great Glen. GBDURO operates on a unique enduro format: four timed stages of approximately 500 kilometres each, with checkpoints where the clock stops, allowing riders to rest and interact with the community before the race resumes. Women have historically made up 50% of the top 10 finishers in several editions, making GBDURO one of the most genuinely gender-balanced competitive ultra events in the world. Since 2020, The Racing Collective has required all riders to reach the start and finish without flying — a commitment that reflects the collective's broader environmental values. The 2026 edition runs as a single 2,000km stage from August 15 to 26.
