Event description

Kromvojoj is a self-supported ultra-distance cycling event that showcases the finest mountain roads of Catalonia. With a philosophy centred on exploration rather than the shortest route, the event leads riders through a maze of winding roads, legendary climbs, and spectacular landscapes, creating one of the most elevation-packed challenges in Southern Europe.

The flagship route covers approximately 1,335 kilometres with more than 26,000 metres of climbing, while the shorter Redux option offers 885 kilometres and 16,500 metres of elevation gain. Both routes start and finish in Alforja, in the Tarragona region, and are fully paved, linking the Costa Daurada, the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenean ranges, and the inland mountains of Catalonia.

Kromvojoj follows a strict self-supported philosophy. Riders are responsible for their own navigation, food, accommodation, and mechanical repairs, with no outside assistance permitted. Mandatory checkpoints guide the journey, but success depends on pacing, strategy, and the ability to manage long days of relentless climbing.

Despite being an asphalt-focused event, Kromvojoj is anything but easy. The route deliberately avoids the direct line, seeking out quiet backroads and the most rewarding mountain passes instead. The result is an unforgettable ride through historic villages, forests, vineyards, and some of the most scenic roads in the Iberian Peninsula.

Combining epic climbing, carefully crafted routes, and the freedom of self-supported riding, Kromvojoj has earned its reputation as one of Europe’s premier ultra-distance road cycling adventures.
