Event description

Nordic Chase BER-CPH Gravel is a self-supported point-to-point gravel event from Berlin to Copenhagen, covering approximately 730 kilometres with 4,000 metres of elevation gain through northeastern Germany and southern Denmark. The route leaves Berlin on gravel and forest roads through the Brandenburg lake district — a landscape of birch forest, sandy soils, and glacial lakes — before crossing into the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern coast region and entering Denmark via Schleswig-Holstein. The Danish section brings rolling green farmland, coastal inlets, and the distinctive cycling infrastructure of a country that takes bicycle travel seriously. The event runs in August as part of the Nordic Chase series, which also offers a Copenhagen-Oslo variant and road editions of both routes. Gravel represents roughly 60% of the surface, with the balance on quiet rural roads. The route is entirely self-supported with no fixed checkpoints, and riders plan their own overnight stops and resupply around the available infrastructure en route. Berlin and Copenhagen are two of Europe's most cycling-friendly cities, and the idea of connecting them by gravel road — following the most interesting and least-trafficked routes rather than the direct highways — gives the event a conceptual elegance that appeals to riders with a touring background as well as pure racers.
