Event description

The Two Continents Adventure Road is the paved variant of the two-continent crossing from Irun in northern Spain to sub-Saharan Africa, covering 4,212 kilometres entirely on tarmac roads through Spain, across the Strait of Gibraltar, and deep into Morocco toward the Saharan fringe. At 4,212 kilometres, it is longer than the piste/gravel variant despite using roads rather than tracks — a reflection of the longer paved detours required to avoid impassable terrain. The route shares its character with the Iberica Traversa Road and the Morocco Bike Adventure Road, combining two of the most ambitious individual road ultra routes in Europe and Africa into a single continuous challenge. Like all Transbike Adventures events, it is fully self-supported: no crew, no outside assistance, no support vehicles. The crossing from Europe to Africa at Tarifa represents a geographic and cultural transition that few cycling events attempt, and arriving in Morocco on a bicycle after having ridden from the north of Spain gives the final section of the route a cumulative weight that is unique in the ultra-cycling world.
