Event description

Uinta Bikepacking is a 500-kilometer off-road event starting in Park City, Utah, taking riders into the Uinta Mountains, the largest east-west trending mountain range in the contiguous United States. The Uintas are known for their alpine lakes, granite peaks, and extensive network of high-altitude forest roads and trails, offering some of the most scenic and remote off-road riding in the American West. Starting from Park City — a well-known mountain resort town with strong outdoor recreation infrastructure — gives riders convenient access before heading into the comparatively wild and undeveloped terrain of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

The September timing aligns with the best riding conditions in the high Uintas, after the worst of summer thunderstorm season but before the first significant snowfall closes the higher passes. With substantial elevation throughout much of the range, riders should expect cool temperatures and the possibility of early season snow at the highest points, even in early autumn. The off-road terrain demands a mountain bike or capable gravel setup given the technical forest roads and trail sections typical of Utah's high country.
